Job Purpose & Responsibilities
The Instrumentation Shift In Charge / Engineer is responsible for shift-based instrumentation maintenance at the HBI Plant — troubleshooting breakdowns, executing preventive/predictive maintenance, managing DCS/PLC logic & graphics, and ensuring safe, smooth operations in coordination with operations and support teams.
- Troubleshoot instrumentation, valves, DCS & PLC systems during shift operations.
- Perform calibration, overhauling and maintenance of transmitters and control valves.
- Execute preventive and predictive maintenance and manage shutdown preparations.
- Interpret loop diagrams, P&IDs and handle DCS/PLC logic & graphics updates.
- Manage spares/tools, identify critical items and ensure availability.
- Maintain 5S standards across office, workshop and plant areas.
- Adhere to AM/NS safety policies and conduct toolbox talks, HIRAC and safe work practices.
- Record maintenance activities and use SAP PM & MM modules for work management.
- Coordinate closely with operations and other service departments to ensure reliable plant operations.
Functional Skills & Tools
- Hands-on maintenance of ON/OFF & control valves, transmitters, weighing systems and positioners.
- Proficiency with Yokogawa DCS and Siemens PLC systems or equivalent.
- Experience with calibration, control valve overhauls and loop checks.
- Root-cause-analysis (RCA) based problem solving skills.
- Familiarity with 5S, PSM, SMP revisions and a strong safety culture.
- Experience with SAP PM & MM modules is preferred.
